My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that every student, regardless of background and circumstance, when inspired to push themselves to chase their potential can do remarkable things. It goes without saying, todays primary and high school kids are tomorrow’s leaders, business men and woman, lawyers, doctors and sporting stars, this is why teaching is one of the most important professions in the world. As a teacher I endeavour to create an inspiring and engaging classroom where the student’s will be self-driven learners that have taken ownership of their learning, understand their own learning styles and what they can do to achieve the next step of their learning goals.
To help foster ownership of the students own learning process, the creation of a differentiated learning environment to help motivate, grow and empower them as learners is something I strongly believe in and it is one of the best way to target ‘learning gaps’ and scaffold students to help them achieve the curriculum. I believe in the need of providing a safe and supporting classroom environment where there is a strong student-teacher relationship where the students feel safe and secure to participate and express their individuality in class. The strong student-teacher relationships will extend to parents and care-givers with an intent to include them where possible into their child’s learning. The use of ICT in the classroom is not only an important part of the curriculum but an important part of my teaching philosophy. Regular access to ICT helps engage students who are visual learners in the learning process. ICT also helps assist behaviour management and helps students with trauma have therapeutic breaks within the classroom environment to help them manage. I plan to deliver quality well thought out lesson content while at the same time I will look to continually grow professionally as a teacher and learner by reflecting upon my teaching and teaching styles, collaborating with my peers and learning new pedagogies that help support the learning process, student needs and classroom management. |
